Alisha Rotella

At-Large Board Member

I am honored to submit my application for the position of At-Large Board Member with FLAEYC. With over a decade of experience in early childhood education, from teaching in the classroom to instructional leadership and policy advocacy. I am committed to advancing equity, quality, and professional excellence across Florida’s early learning systems.

My journey began in a toddler classroom, where I developed a deep appreciation for responsive and developmentally appropriate practices. Over the years, I’ve held roles as an Education Specialist, School Education Manager, and Professional Development Consultant, delivering over 50 trainings annually and supporting early educators with curriculum fidelity, assessment, and reflective teaching. These roles have strengthened my ability to collaborate across diverse teams, coach with empathy, and build educator capacity through adult learning strategies that are inclusive and strengths-based.

In my current work as a consultant and graduate student specializing in early childhood education policy, I bridge the worlds of practice and systems. I’ve contributed to advocacy campaigns and supported the work of the Children’s Movement of Florida. As a policy intern with The Children’s Movement of Florida, I participated in several call-to-action campaigns surrounding the Early Childhood Educators Workforce work group. These experiences have expanded my understanding of how governance, funding, and advocacy intersect to shape the day-to-day experiences of young children and their teachers.

What excites me most about this opportunity is the chance to listen deeply to FLAEYC’s members, elevate practitioner voices, and contribute to strategic initiatives that support workforce sustainability, program quality, and equitable access to high-quality early learning. I bring a systems-thinking mindset, strong facilitation skills, and a deep belief in the power of professional community. I’m especially passionate about supporting small centers and rural programs that are often underrepresented in statewide conversations.

As a candidate for At-Large Board Member, I’m ready to support FLAEYC’s mission with both humility and conviction. I believe that together, we can continue to uplift the profession and ensure that every child in Florida has the foundation they need to thrive.
