Camille Mendez
President Elect
I’m honored to be considered for the role of President-Elect for the FLAEYC Board. I care deeply about the future of early childhood education and the people who make it possible, and I’m committed to doing the kind of behind-the-scenes work that helps systems better support children, families, and educators.
I’ve spent over 15 years in this field. Starting in classrooms, then moving into coaching, program design, and policy work. In my current role as Quality Programs Supervisor at the Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas County, I lead efforts focused on professional learning, coaching, workforce development, and early literacy. A big part of my job is translating data and feedback into action—making sure the voices of educators are shaping the decisions we make.
As FLAEYC’s Advocacy Chair, I’ve been proud to help support the One Voice Coalition and co-create the Advocacy Leadership Training Program. Whether it’s meeting with legislators or helping members build confidence in their advocacy skills, I’m passionate about making policy feel approachable and helping people understand how to navigate systems to create change.
I’m running for President-Elect because I believe in the power of collective leadership. I want to support the board in working well together, make space for new voices, and keep building structures that reflect and respond to the real challenges educators face. I’m especially passionate about growing leadership pathways, supporting the workforce, and making sure FLAEYC remains a trusted resource across the state.
I bring a mix of practical experience, a systems lens, and a deep commitment to collaboration. I’m someone who listens carefully, follows through, and leads with heart. It would be an honor to step into this role and continue supporting the mission and members of FLAEYC.
