Monica Walley
At-Large Board Member
More than three decades ago, I stepped into the early childhood education field with a heart full of purpose and a commitment to making a difference. What began as a direct service to young children has grown into a rich, multifaceted journey that has shaped who I am as a leader, advocate, and lifelong learner.
Today, I proudly serve as the Director of the Institute of Excellence in Early Care and Education (IEECE) at Palm Beach State College. In this role, I lead a countywide professional development system that supports thousands of educators across Palm Beach County. I oversee comprehensive training initiatives, implement innovative micro-credentialing systems, manage scholarship and incentive programs, and ensure our efforts align with both local and statewide workforce goals. This work has given me a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our early learning profession, particularly around workforce development, compensation, credentialing, equity, and access to high-quality professional growth.
My career has been built on a foundation of leadership. I have led with transparency and accountability, managing budgets, ensuring program compliance, implementing policy, guiding performance, and fostering collaborative, data-driven decision-making. I’ve developed and led initiatives grounded in research and equity, always with the intention of meeting the real, diverse needs of educators and communities.
As a proud Hispanic bilingual professional and a lifelong advocate for inclusive education, my beliefs align closely with FLAEYC’s mission, vision, and values. I am deeply committed to building systems that recognize and uplift every professional in the field, ensuring all voices are heard, respected, and valued. My leadership style is collaborative and reflective. I firmly believe that meaningful change comes from working together across perspectives to shape a stronger future for children and those who care for them.
If given the opportunity to serve as an At-Large Board Member for FLAEYC, I would bring not only deep experience but also an unwavering dedication to our shared cause. I offer a statewide understanding of policy, professional development, and funding structures, a strong background in fiscal and operational leadership, and a deep commitment to equity, excellence, and authentic collaboration.
It would be a true privilege to contribute my voice, skills, and heart to the FLAEYC Governing Board and to continue the important work of strengthening and elevating the early childhood field across Florida.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Monica Walley
