Valorie Wilkerson

At-Large Board Member

I am eager to serve on the FLAEYC Board of Directors because I am deeply committed to strengthening Florida’s early childhood education system and advancing the professional excellence of those who nurture and teach our youngest learners. With over 20 years of experience as an Early Childhood Educator, program director, trainer, and advocate, I bring a broad perspective, strategic insight, and deep dedication to this work. I believe that meaningful change happens through collaboration, strong leadership, and a shared commitment to equity and access. I am confident that my skills and experience align with FLAEYC’s mission and can contribute to its continued impact.

Throughout my career, I have served as a Director of a faith-based child care program, an Education Coordinator for Head Start, a district trainer, and an adjunct college instructor. I’ve also held advisory roles, including on the Department of Children & Families Advisory Committee, where I contributed to shaping program quality and engagement strategies. These roles have prepared me to lead with vision, advocate effectively, and support systems-level change. My work in professional development has allowed me to empower educators and champion practices that prioritize high-quality care and culturally responsive education.

As Florida continues to navigate challenges in child care affordability, workforce shortages, and funding sustainability, I am committed to standing alongside fellow board members to advocate for solutions that reflect the voices and needs of early childhood professionals and families. I am especially passionate about ensuring that all educators are respected, supported, and compensated fairly for the essential role they play. Serving on the FLAEYC Board would be a great honor and a natural extension of my lifelong commitment to advancing early learning excellence across our state.
